My first impression of the Animal Crackers grown by @certifiedpdx was that it smelled like a tropical forest floor smoothie. Earthy and sweet with tropical fruit flavors. Bred by #buddyscannabis, this cross of Girl Scout Cookies and Lemon Head is candy shop sweet, fruity too with nice mouth coating cookie character. Tearing into the buds reveals a sugary sweet marshmallow scent with a lemony top note that lends to a subtle lemon meringue pie profile. Fruity citrus, pineapple, passion fruit and pine-forward mango round out the fruit flavors. We veer into candy territory with a whiff of Pez candies (I’m pretty sure all colors of Pez are the same flavor) coating my fingers is identical to the scent of Smarties (which, I’ll remind you are something like 99.9 percent sugar.) Drawing on an unlit joint offers a few hints of molasses and this sweetness carries over to the inhale. Very pleasant, almost like smoking a honeyed blunt including that occasional satisfied smacking and lip licking that goes with it. The joints burned down to a pleasing fine white ash. The effect here is not at all subtle. There were moments where I felt like I was hovering an inch or two above the couch. Great for those nights when you can stay at home and do whatever is on your mind. On shelves now at Nectar’s OMMP location and rolling out to Rec stores soon. 🌱: @certifiedpdx 📸: @stellascannabis

Hops and Cannabis are close cousins so it’s natural to see @coalitionbrewing combining them into a beverage that relies on both for effect. The beer, Two Flowers IPA is a west coast style Pale with added hemp juice and terpene rich CBD oil. Each ten ounce pour contains 5 mg, just enough for me to have a little cannabis associated giggle fit. It’s easy to jump on the CBD bandwagon and just add it to whatever but Coalition did a swell job balancing the flavors. Similar to other grassy and citrus-bitter IPAs it offered nice tannic bitterness and pleasing malt sweetness. I’d have a couple rounds but probably not a six pack in one sitting. I’ve heard CBD works great for hangovers so maybe next time I’ll opt for a growler and see if it makes a difference. We found this on tap at East Burn but it’s hitting pint glasses all over town. Check Coalition’s site for a list of watering holes near you and give it a shot. 📸:@ktnmoss

Oh boy, this is a fun one. The Sonic Screwdriver here is grown @fidusfamilyfarms and bred by @homegrownnaturalwonders. Orange Cream Soda X TimeWreck make the cross but this sample leans more toward cherry than orange. Cracking the jar reveals a sweet and subtle cream soda aroma and tearing into the buds releases a sweet candy nose that starts at grape Pez, makes a firm stop at cherry Laffy Taffy and finally fades off into cherry pipe tobacco. The heart here is all those sweet artificial berry flavors, usually just sold as the appropriately vague, wildberry. No sour, no funk, no mentholated cough drop flavor you find in other cherry-centric strains. Instead, I find floral carnation and hints of orange juice and pineapple. The effect is a little spacey and cerebral with no noticeable raciness on my end. Probably great for playing video games or double tapping that like button for hours. Grown with great attention and clean methods by @fidusfarms 📸🌌by @stellascannabis and on shelves now @western_oregon_dispensary

The Blood Orange Tangie from @echoelectuary sold me on name alone. A rare purple hued Tangie pheno from @crockett420, the flower has been winning awards as a candied citrus scented powerhouse with eye-catching bag appeal. For a live resin, it has everything I look for. Mouth coating complex flavors with a taste of what the living plant had to offer. The extract on its own smells like navel oranges, syrupy canned peaches, your hands after you eat a dozen peak-season satsumas. Soft and malleable but not runny, snapping up a dab is relatively easy. Taking a hit reveals the sour side of citrus, more cocktail twist than orange juice, A little bit of chem, slight hint of musky funk. More canned peaches, canned mandarin, hint of pine. All of the sweetness comes through in the exhale. Absolute orange candy. Orange gumdrops and creamsicle candy flavors. Perfume sharp terpenes give a slight nose burn. The effect really shines here. It’s creative and lively, relaxed without the narcotic feel. This is marked “Head Line”, which looks to be Echos designator for high-end limited edition drops. The Blood Orange Tangie certainly fits in that category. It looks like shops got a very limited supply. If it sounds like something you need in your stash, rush out and grab some before it’s gone. Purchased @naturalwonders.pdx but likely on shelves at #treehousecollective and @collective.awakenings

Lovely bud of GSC Forum Cut grown by @stellascannabis. This was from a clone purchased @archiveportland and the care and attention is evident. Classic diesel and sweet bread notes that we know to expect from cookie strains. This bud is particularly aromatic, with a buttery, new leather scent emanating from the grinder. Warm baking spices play off the shortbread notes and back to that hint of buttery bread. Goes to show that not all 🍪are created equally. Lovely to see what a home grower can do with a little extra room, dedication and the right genetics. 📸:@stellascannabis

I hope you’ve taken note of the growing piles of satsumas and blood orages at your local grocery. It’s citrus season and the variety available to us in the gloomy north is pretty astounding. This Tangieland, grown by @fidusfamilyfarms packs the same sort of fruit forward, sour punch that citrus season does. Candyland x Tangie play really well together, cutting through the sharp almost acrid notes you find in some tangies. Rounded out with sweet orange aromas, a layer of sugar cookie dough and pleasant hints of peach and white tea. Orange peel and canned grapefruit juice when your break into the flower and a nice layer of lemonade scented resin coating the teeth of the grinder. Really one of the nicer citrus leaning flower I’ve come across. Great energetic cerebral effect that would be perfect wake and bake fodder for some and an invitation to call in sick and bid on star wars figurines for others. This supreme nug shot by @stellascannabis is complimented on his feed with an equally nice impression, check it out. On shelves now @western_oregon_dispensary
